The Nathan Yip School of Hope

The Nathan Yip School of Hope in New City is located in one of the poorest and most remote areas in China, with an annual household income of less than US $190. The Xin Guo Region in China has a population of 900,000. This is one of two regions in China where most Generals were born. In the last century alone there have been 48 Generals born in this Region.

The old school was built in 1973 with unsafe construction methods and materials. Before it was renovated and expanded, the school had a capacity of 350 students. With its small space (roughly 3000 SF for 350 students), first and second year students had to share the same classroom.

The Nathan Yip Foundation provided funds to build a two-story school doubling the space to roughly 6000 SF. With a new basketball court, the new school can easily house over 400 students, with 9 teachers.
